Forbidden Fire The Forbidden Trilogy Book 2 eBook Karpov Kinrade
Forbidden Fire is one action packed read! I didn't want to put it down even when I had to. I really liked the first book in this trilogy but this one was even better. I can't wait to see how it all ends in the final book.Sam and Drake have escaped and are now hiding with Drake's friend Brad in California. But things are far from good. Sam and Drake's relationship is tested by other people and circumstances throughout the story. It's far from a story book romance. But I'm still rooting for them all the same. They try to keep a low profile but the seeker has people working for him to track them down.
Luke and Lucy have their own problems back at the school. The campus has been overtaken by the bad people with a guy named Mr. Black who is in charge. The siblings have been invited to join a revolution with other students to overtake the school and somehow escape. Nothing seems to go as planned. Luke and Lucy are sent out on a mission that goes all wrong too. But Lucy comes back with an item that even she is not sure what it is.
The book is action packed from beginning to end. We get to meet some new characters and learn a little more about others. I liked how the story switched back and forth between what was going on with Sam and Drake and then with Luke and Lucy. There is a lot going on the whole time. The last part of the book has another new part to this story that I'm sure will be played out in the final book. I recommend this book if you enjoy fantasy with some sci-fi in the mix.

Forbidden Fire The Forbidden Trilogy Book 2 eBook Karpov Kinrade Reviews
The story and character building is just so good in this book! Things happen quickly, but they’re always explained and you feel for the characters deeply that much faster. Definitely a must-read!
Started out well then, idk...turned into bleh. Especially Sam, feeling guilty for EVERYTHING. Almost did not finish book because of it. She keeps putting her life....and the baby's....and Drakes....because she feels guilty about using her powers over people to help themselves, and these are in life or death situations. To me, just wasn't a character I could get behind. Not reading the third installment...
Sensational, Explosive, Awesome!!!!
I stayed up until the early hours of the morning (2 a.m.) reading this book once I started reading I didn't want to stop so everything was put on hold until I finished and it was worth every moment of it! I love this book! I couldn't imagine myself going through and living through what these kids in this book have. it really makes you think about how eerily similar our world we live in today is so alike with our government controlling us and using us.. Forbidden Fire is explosive! it's action-packed, riveting and so full of surprises you never would have seen coming! get ready to be on Fire because this is one book that you will never ever forget!!!
It had action, suspense, drama and then there was Sam.
On the one hand you have Drake, who completely loves Sam and their child. He understands that to keep them safe you sometimes have to do things you don't want to. Sometimes, you have to fall into a grey area for the big picture.
On the other hand you have Sam. I'm distressed even typing her name. She whines and whines and whines and whines. Through everything, at least she is consistent.... she whines. I feel she belittles Drake and questions everything he does. The para-power that keeps his family safe is exactly what she hates about him. Although, a para-power not too far away from her own, so maybe she is projecting her own self loathing. It wasn't awful, I just wanted Sam to grow up and stop whining.
This book took off where the first book "Forbidden Minds" stopped. This trilogy would make a great movie. The main characters Sam, Drake, Luke and Lucy put you on pins and needles and you can't put the book down until you find out what happens. Karpov Kincade knows how to bring the characters to life and puts the readers right there with them. I look forward to reading book 3 "Forbidden Life" to find out how it all comes together - if it does that is.
This is the second book in the trilogy, if you start with this one it wouldn't make too much sense. The story continues the life and experiences of Sam, the mind-reading teen girl from Forbidden Mind, and trying to escape the reaches of the orgnization that profits, breeds and kidnaps children with paranormal powers. This book focuses half on her side, outside of the Rent-A-Kid facilities, and on the inside through Lucy and Luke. While sometimes the perspective changes from 1st to 3rd, the writing is pretty good. I enjoyed the story and wanted to get on to the next book to find out what happens next.
The word "vomit" appears 5 times in the book and, in my opinion, is at least 2 times too many. The main character Sam has devolved into a weak, frail, whiney, insecure, useless, incompetent young woman in this book. In the midst of a weird pregnancy reminiscent of Bella in Book 4 of the Twilight series, she's morning sick (thus the vomiting), withdrawing from forced drug addiction (thus more vomiting), incoherent much of the time, making horrible decisions for herself and everybody around her, and is generally a loathsome creature. I get that it must be a nice fantasy for young women to think that no matter how horrible and worthless they are, someone like Drake (Sam's superhero male counterpart) will unconditionally love them no matter what. But yuck, do these characters like Sam really need to be such losers?
OK, so now let's ignore the detestable main character. The rest of the book is excellent. If you don't mind main characters like Sam (or actually enjoy them), then I recommend it. If you quickly tire of whiney protagonists, then I suggest skipping this one.
